Day 31: A Long Night

Never have I slept so little; Cormac was sick for the first time. I forgot how hard it is to take care of sick infants. Slept a total of 2 hours. This is just a pic of my tools that helped us through the night.

Day 30: Cleaning day

Time to disinfect after all the sickies in my house.

Day 29: Play-doh

Day 27: Puzzle Time

I can just say the next few days pics are of the mundane. We are all sick, I am doing good to get them up.

Day 26: Gorilla Cage

Kota the dinosaur was the "guard". Oh to be in the mind of a 3 year old.

So I come home from work today and find this, a "gorilla cage" created by my 3 year old. He stayed home from preschool sick, obviously he was feeling better. I know it is a boring photo, but I couldn't figure out how to compose the shot that really showed the complete mess my house was in.

Day 25: Exersaucer

Today was Cormac's first day in his excersaucer, he likes it...for about a minute.

Day 24: Bed Head and Bellies

Cormac finally rolled over, just shy of 16 weeks! Yeah for him, although as you can tell from the pics he doesn't exactly like it. The other shot is my 3 year and his frantic hair style that he wakes with. Do these pictures look noisy or is it the site?

Day 23: Point of View

So really a blurry picture, but I like that is shows how crazy this child is about this bee. He kicks and gets so excited he can hardly stand it.

Day 22: Jack and Daddy

I tried to capture this spur of the moment match, but alas I believe it is a little blurry. Really the story of my pictures... How about A for effort?.

Day 21: Tent Trap

ISO 1600
SS 1/20
Custom WB
So I was unable to post yesterday, but there you go. My 3 year old decided that his brother wanted to hang out in his Star Wars tent. I think you can guess by the expression what Cormac's feeling was. I think it looks a little fuzzy and noisy, but what can you do with indoor light at 8pm?.

Day 19: A Lesson In Lighting

Auto White Balance
Tungsten
Custom White Balance

Week 3 of the 12 week program is a lesson on lighting. The pictures were taken with auto white balance, tungsten, and custom as noted above. The only subject that would pose for me is Jack's Wee Wow, and even he would try and take off. Glowing eyes= freaky!

Day 17: Brothers

Tried playing around with this on picnik, since a) photoshop won't work, memory is full and b) it's free. Not impressed with their stuff.

Day 18: Time With Daddy

The brief break in the fog gave us some actual light. I took the pics and later saw my WB was on custom from the night before. I think that is why they look a little blue. I pry could have turned down the ISO, they seem a little noisy.

Day 16: Libra

And, we're done!

I tried to capture some natural light after Cormac's nap today. I had about 10 minutes. These are SOOC and look a little blue or washed out to me. May be the laptop I'm working on. The shirt may be distracting, but I wanted some pics of it. This was the first and only item I bought him when I found out I was pregnant. I was too afraid to buy anything else, and look what I have now. Truly a peacable child.

Day 15: Shutter Speed

ISO 800
SS 1/3
F 14

ISO 800
SS 1/320
F 4.5

ISO 800
SS 1/100
F 4.5
The focus of this week's lesson was shutter speed. I hurried home to catch what natural light I could over our sink. The results are above. I couldn't get my shutter speed higher without it getting too dark.

Day 14: Shoes

Another exciting picture of my son's shoes. I just think they are cute, and as you can tell by the wear and tear he has had many adventures in those shoes.

Day 13

Nothing to write home about. What a challenge this is to stay on task and get a decent picture taken daily. I struggle to get good shots when the light is gone by the time I get home. I hope that the constant practice with no natural light will help me to get better at indoor shots. I think that a lightscoop would help greatly. I get upset with myself because instead of focusing on how cute he looks and his expression, I am looking at the composition and thinking how it could have been better, and how the color is all off. Grrr...

Day 12: Work

A little better than yesterday, nothing too exciting. Some math fun for you. Remember the days? I had to show off my empty assignment tray, I am actually caught up!

Day 11: Poor Lighting

I tried taking some pics of the boys today, but the lighting was awful once I got home. The composition is also poor, really just a poor showing. I am lacking some inspiration neither of the boys like to have their picture taken. Boy would it be awesome if I could edit these, awful.awful.awful.

Day 10: Reading List

So I was feeling completely uninspired today, so I saw a similar pic on another blog and thought, "Hey, good idea." Here is a pic of what I am reading now, nothing too exciting. I always go back to the Twilight series between other books, why, well it is a simple, mindless, entertaining read. There I said it, I am 30 and I read Twilight, despite the fact my husband loathes it.

Day 9: Aperture

I started a 12 week "course" online for better photography. This week's focus is aperture. Here are my pics taken in AV mode.

Day 8: Birthday cake and Snow Day

Today was our third snow day, negative 25-35 wind chills. Brrr... I took the first photo out our back door, the snow had created a virtual wall against the door. The second was my son and mother making a pumpkin cake for my husband's birthday.

Day 7: Snow Day Fun

ISO 800 SS: 1/160
This pic is a little overexposed and not quite sharp enough. But, he wanted a picture of himself coloring our windows. I love Window Crayons!

ISO: 800 SS 1/125

ISO 800 SS: 1/100
ISO 800 SS: 1/100

Today we had another snow day, so I had another day off!! The winds were terrible, about 25-35 mph and the wind chill is 25-30 below. Not a fun day to play outside. So what did we do? Well, some Candy Land and window art helped us pass the time.

Cormac's first "shoot"

ISO 100 SS: 1/8. REALLY need to bump that up!

ISO 800 SS: 1/60

ISO 800 SS: 1/100

I can't honestly call it a shoot since it was done very quickly before I had to pick up my son from school. I took advantage of today's snow day to take some pics with natural light. I set up in his room just using a white sheet and his blanket as backdrop...I need to remember to get that paper from savage!
Cormac is in love with his hands at this time and does not have the patience for mommy to try and figure out the camera while he poses.
